Wind Power Chat I'm looking at the possibility of adding a wind turbine but I don't have much useful info on them, like do they normally have built in charge controllers or you'd have to buy an outboard controller, would an mppt charger work or maybe it depends on the the make? You guys using wind power have at it, I'll be monitoring to get a better feel for it. Well I've ditched thinking of getting 1, there's really not much wind where I'm at. Spring is pretty breezy & during storms but that's about it, not a fruitful endeavor for here, more solar panels & batteries is a better investment.

Downside to most wind turbines From doing a bit more investigating about wind power, I found a negative issue about them. During high winds, most will engage a brake to stop the spinning or slow them down so the blades won't shatter so no or less energy is being made but then I found just 1 company has addressed this issue with a tilting turbine that pivots the turbine to reduce the wind drag & keeps on running so you're getting constant power. The only issue I have with them tho is they won't respond to messages & don't offer a high voltage model more than 48 volts & I'd like to find out if a 100 volter can be made from these guys.
