Newcomers welcome page Brand new forum launched 10/9/19. Check in & say hey, visit the other thread topics & tell us about & or add youtube video's of your system or if just getting intrested on diving in, if we get any seasoned traffic here, ask the gang for their advice. So share your story on the project your building & how things are going. I think it would be intresting to see if most are following a similar pattern or something a bit different along with the equipment you're working with. I've had the itch to get on this for years & finally getting it started so obviously I'm a novice but've done a lot of research & I figured it would be good to put together a forum for others like myself to bounce around ideas & help each other out on what is or isn't working & how to get the most bang for the bux on the systems you end up with & putting them together right for best service. I'm using a lot of Chinese stuff & you seasoned pro's are prolly snickering & I know I'm gambling but It's my money to burn. Might end up getting burned but then I might just get lucky & pick out some ok stuff. Saving big bux from the name brand equipment would be icing on the cake but for a bit more piece of mind, I put 3rd party xtended warranty on my inverter so I'm better protected from eating failing equipment. We'll see how well that works if needed. Since this is my 1st attempt at getting a system up & running, I'll be doing many updates along this journey in the many threads of this site describing the successes & failures if any plus the gadgetry I'm incorporating to automate my system which is turning out to be pretty slick so far & if I'm getting the desired results out of it I was hoping for & any info I stumble across that you or I would likely find useful to pass along will be added it to the knowledge base here as I hope you will do the same, so stay tuned. Those of you who'd like to join & post with pics of your systems, you'll have to get my email to send pics you want to post in your stories & I'll add them to my board library to create a link then send you back a link so you can add it to your posts. Videos are easily postable tho.

All settled in at the new place with system up & running & adding/upgrading all the time.
It's been a couple months now with the system in full operation & a great location for solar exposure. I've got full sun exposure except for the 1st & last hour of the day to neighboring trees, can't get much better than that. Now that I've had the time to test & monitor what I can get from it, this is what I've come to find. Contrary to my estimation, it ain't enough! So more solar gear is in the works & more details on the upgrades needed that will be acquired for the next phase of the journey will be scattered over the other threads. This is like a fanatic race car builder, you're always looking to top what you've been able to do before. When I see all the bux I'm looking at spending to build a system to produce all I need, it would be way cheaper just to pay the electric company but when you get a fanatic itch for this kinda project, you just can't quit. So this is just a lesson to others thinking you can do something like this & come out ahead in the long run on saving some bux. Ain't gonna happen but on the other hand, when some kind of a disaster strikes & nobody else has power but you, your reward will be priceless. I'm not just doing solar electric tho, I have 2 other successfully projects, 2 solar water heaters, yeah.... free scalding hot water & 2 solar furnaces for my cabin & shed for free heat in winter with more info on them in the solar heating thread. For me this is a journey I'm documenting as I go along for others to see what you'll likely experience if you decide to dive into this sorta thing. I hope you'll find my tales of how this evolves intresting & useful in putting together a system of your own & would be great to hear from others on what your doing as well.

A 4 year later update & not much of anymore input will be posted here. Well, I've pretty much abandoned this forum & found a bunch of morons were using it to post a bunch of garbage, so on my rare visit here, I shit canned all that trash. So It's now over 4 years since I started this forum & just an update, my system is nearly finished. Got 31 kw of panels & that's all I need, 43 kw of battery storage with some more planned & that about wraps up my journey. I don't remember much of what I got posted here in the topics, so some what you find here may be irrelevant now & better ideas found to get to where I am now. I've moved all my solar topic activity over to the Gab solar forum, so if you have any ?'s on anything you've seen in here, you can find me over there. Just search for solar & it's the only big solar group on there. So now that I'm pretty well seasoned with this subject, you can get some pretty good advice from me & other advanced members over there.
